Roma Defeated by Brighton: Another Setback in England

During their pre-season tour in England, AS Roma suffered a heavy defeat of 3-0 against Brighton. This result came as the final match of Roma's short friendly season in the UK.

Match Details and Lineups

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini fielded a strong XI with Donyell Malen, Paulo Dybala, and Matias Soule up front. Neil El-Aynaoui started in midfield alongside Bryan Cristante, while Wesley and Devyne Rensch covered the wings. Santiago Castro and Konstantinos Koulierakis were on the bench.

Roma's first attempt at goal came from Paulo Dybala after 19 minutes: receiving a cross from Wesley, his shot did not trouble Bart Verbruggen in the Seagulls' net. Shortly thereafter, Malen tried to score from the edge of the penalty area but his effort went over the bar.

Brighton's Defensive Errors and Goals

Brighton's first goal came after 29 minutes courtesy of Georginio Rutter. After a breakaway against Wesley, Ayari scored the second in minute 40. In the second half, Ayari added the third for the hosts.

Conclusions

The defeat was another setback for Roma during their pre-season tour in England. The defense allowed two goals to Brighton players, while Paulo Dybala had an opportunity to score a fourth but failed to do so.

Roma introduced 20 substitutes at full-time, but most of the game was played with the players on the field.
