ROME - A new tribute to José Mourinho has appeared on the walls of the capital. Roman street artist Drugi has unveiled a mural dedicated to the former AS Roma manager, depicting him wearing a yellow and red scarf while shaking hands with a child wearing the club's jersey and holding the Conference League trophy won in Tirana in 2022.
The artwork, shared on the artist's Instagram profile, is a manifesto of gratitude towards the Portuguese coach and arrives on the eve of the Champions League match between Roma and Real Madrid, scheduled for Wednesday, 12 October at the Stadio Olimpico. Mourinho will thus return to the Olimpico, but this time in the opposition dugout. The mural also carries a message: "Non dimenticheremo mai chi siamo stati. Per una notte dimenticheremo l’amore, ma non dimenticheremo mai chi siamo stato" (We will never forget who we were. For one night we will forget love, but we will never forget who we were).
Daniele De Rossi's team approaches this special moment in positive recent form, being unbeaten in their last five league matches. With 14 points from six games, the team is third in Serie A and has accumulated 540 minutes of play since the start of the season. Mourinho's return adds further emotion to an already intense week for the club, which is looking to consolidate its position in the standings.
