AS Roma is facing a critical period in its search for a right-sided attacker or a winger, with two potential new signings that could solve the problem. Rodrigo Mora of Porto is the top name on the list, with Roma and Porto's plans finally in sync. According to Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, the final details are closing in, and Mora could be joining Roma.

But Roma is not stopping at Mora. According to reliable sources like Fabrizio Romano and Biafora, the club is still interested in Malick Fofana of Lyon. Roma was linked to Fofana in a deal worth around 40 million euros, and his name is now seen as a concrete target. However, Mora and Fofana are not meant to replace each other but to complement one another.

Mora and Fofana have different playing styles. The young Porto player usually plays centrally, using his technical ability as a playmaker, while Fofana is a natural winger, relying on his pace and dribbling. In a 3-4-2-1 formation, Mora's most functional role would likely still be as the right-sided attacking midfielder, the opposite of Dybala. This is also Fofana's territory, but if the left wing is the area that has the most need for reinforcement, Mora could be targeted for a different role than assumed.

The case of Mora and Fofana is step by step. We have seen Roma close to the end of its right-sided attacker search too many times without a signing actually happening. Therefore, we cannot yet consider it safe to say that Roma has found the solution.

And the club's dealmakers seem to know it, with the Mora deal now considered an absolute priority before any further progress can be made on the Fofana front.

If Roma can bring in Mora and Fofana, and if the two players can follow in the footsteps of El Shaarawy and Perotti, they might not have gone wrong. But, as always, we must be patient before we can be sure that Roma has solved the left wing issue.
