AS Roma launches Autistic Football Club: a step forward for inclusion

From July 1, AS Roma has officially launched the AS Roma Autistic Football Club, a team dedicated to athletes with autism spectrum disorder. This project, born from the adoption of the Autistic Football Club initiative by SS Romulea, represents an important step forward in the club's strategy to promote inclusion and accessibility in sports. With 23 wins, 4 draws, and 11 losses in 38 games this season, the giallorossi continue to demonstrate their commitment off the field, consolidating their role as leaders in social football.

What does it mean for AS Roma and inclusive football?

The AS Roma for Special project, launched in 2023, now enters a new phase with the creation of the AS Roma Autistic Football Club. This development aims to expand opportunities for people with intellectual and relational disabilities, strengthening the club's social impact. The collaboration with Cooperativa CassiAvass, which ended on June 30, laid the foundation for this new chapter, which fits into the club's strategy for developing activities within the FIGC Paralympic Football Division.

What are the goals of the project?

The main objective is to offer an increasing number of athletes and families the opportunity to experience a sporting, educational, and inclusive experience wearing the giallorossi colors. With 59 goals scored and 31 conceded this season, AS Roma shows that football can be a powerful tool for personal growth and social participation. The club wishes to thank the athletes, technical staff, and educators who contributed to the success of the AS Roma for Special project in recent years.

What's next?

The launch of the AS Roma Autistic Football Club marks a new beginning for inclusive football in Rome. With the team preparing for the next match against Cardiff on August 1, 2026, the club continues to work to promote a sports culture accessible to all. This project confirms AS Roma's commitment to promoting football as a tool for inclusion and personal growth, strengthening ties with the territory and the community.
