Leicester's Miracles and the Giallorossi Heart
Born in Testaccio, Claudio Ranieri has spent much of his life coaching prestigious clubs. His career began with Vigor Lamezia in 1986, characterized by numerous stops that had their share of passion and triumphs.
In the 2015-2016 season, Ranieri led Leicester City to the Scudetto - an unprecedented success story in English football history. Although the club's original goal was simply to avoid relegation, Ranieri and his players surpassed all expectations leading to what is now widely regarded as one of the greatest sporting feats in the sport’s history.
A Turbulent Departure from AS Roma
Ranieri's time with AS Roma has not been without its challenges. He had earlier stints coaching the club, first from 2009 to 2011 and then again from 2019 until 2024. While moments of great satisfaction have included success stories like Leicester’s Scudetto-winning season, they were often overshadowed by failures and setbacks.
The previous May, he announced that his career as a coach would come to an end after the season. However, in November of last year, the new Friedkin management team named him senior advisor. This position was quickly ended when Mancini was named the head coach instead of Gasperini, resolving the issue.
The “Prophecy” About the National Team
Although he was once considered a future manager for the Italian national team, his responsibilities at AS Roma prevented him from taking on another role. Just months ago, Ranieri stated that adhering to his commitments with the club was necessary over pursuing other opportunities abroad.
Now, Ranieri will be a key player in the Italian national team's new chapter. His responsibilities include bridging the gap between Mancini and Figc while helping define criteria for the upcoming squad selections.
