ROME - An injury to Paulo Dybala marred AS Roma's performance in their 3-4 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League. The Argentine forward felt a muscular issue during the first half and did not return after the break, replaced by Rodrigo Mora.

Manager Gian Piero Gasperini had to deal with a double injury blow, having already lost Manu Koné to injury after just 15 minutes. "After losing Koné to injury in the first half, he was forced to substitute Dybala after the interval," the Giallorossi coach stated.

The injury situation

Gasperini's squad is handling a tricky period with several players sidelined. In addition to Dybala and Koné, M. Bah, B. Cristante and M. Svilar are currently out. Roma, sitting third in the table with 14 points, can ill afford to lose more firepower up front, especially with Genoa currently in 17th place.

The hope is that Dybala's issue is merely fatigue, unlike the more serious problem that forced Koné off. The club will provide updates following further tests. In the meantime, the attacking burden will fall on others like top scorer Donyell Malen, who netted twice against Real Madrid. The full list of available players can be found in the squad section. The team resumes European action next week, making squad management critical.
