Ndicka collapses: AS Roma provides update

AS Roma has confirmed that defender Evan Ndicka is conscious and that he has been taken to hospital after collapsing on the pitch against Udinese.

What happened?

Ndicka collapsed on the pitch shortly after the 70th minute and had clutched his chest in the moments leading up to the referee's intervention. He was immediately seen to by medical staff on the field and then rushed off on a stretcher.

The team's response

AS Roma released an official statement on Ndicka's condition, stating that the player is conscious and that he has been taken to hospital for further checks. The team is currently 3rd in Serie A with 73 points, 14 points behind leaders Inter.
