With the impending arrival of Rodrigo Mora, AS Roma sees its already impressive U-23 squad expanding even further. The 19-year-old midfielder will bring a touch of class and excitement to Roma's midfield. Regardless of whether he plays behind the strikers or in a slightly wider position, Mora has the opportunity to make a significant impact this season and become a pillar of the club in the future.
Roma Plans New Bid for Alessio Cacciamani
Roma is planning to present an improved offer for Alessio Cacciamani, the young player from Torino, in search of depth in the wing-back position.
While the city of Rome celebrates the arrival of Rodrigo Mora (at least for the red and yellow side of the city), the arrival of a young talent like Mora won’t solve the issue of depth in the left wing-back position. As the new season approaches, it seems that Wesley França, who has traditionally played on the opposite flank, will move to a full-time left wing-back role, leaving Nahuel Molina and Devyne Rensch to hold down the right wing.
However, with nearly 50 matches to be divided among the wing-backs, Roma needs another set of healthy legs to support França, Molina, and Rensch. And if those legs were attached to Alessio Cacciamani, all the better. We discussed the merits of the dynamic up-and-comer earlier this summer. While the trail never cooled, Urban Cairo and Torino have been a tough nut to crack, to no one's surprise.
Roma has other options at the position, namely Tottenham's Destiny Udogie and Inter Milan's Luis Henrique, but according to Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Roma hasn't given up on Cacciamani. While their initial €12 million offer was rejected outright, Di Marzio suggests that Roma will approach Torino again, reportedly upping their offer closer to Torino's €20 million demand.
Investing heavily in another 19-year-old is a risk, but Cacciamani seems ideally suited to life under Gasperini.
