The club's only signing to date is Belgian defender Thomas Meunier from Lille on a free transfer, which has raised concerns among fans regarding the urgency of bolstering key positions ahead of the Premier League opener.

With the Soule interest potentially cooling down, Roma might be eyeing an alternative through Sunderland’s winger, 24-year-old Simon Adingra. Italian outlet Tutto Mercato reports that Rome is evaluating Adingra as a viable option after missing out on another player due to financial constraints.
Adingra, who has shown promise during his loan period with Monaco last season, could be an enticing prospect for Roma. Despite Sunderland’s valuation of Adingra at €35 million/£30 million, this figure does not seem to deter Roma from evaluating him further as a wide attacking option.
Utilizing Adingra in potential negotiations between the two clubs offers Sunderland a strategic move to finally seal the Soule signing. Director of Football Florent Ghisolfi and his team should capitalize on Roma's interest by suggesting a swap deal, where Adingra would join Roma while enhancing Sunderland’s chances at bringing Soule to Wearside in return.
